I’m pleased to announce the release of a free PDF containing the complete notes from our recent adult Sunday School study, Assessing the Pure Cambridge Edition Position, taught at Grace Life Bible Church as part of our larger series, From This Generation For Ever.
This study was conducted over fourteen weeks, from December 21, 2025, through March 22, 2026, and represents a sustained historical, theological, and logical examination of the Pure Cambridge Edition (PCE) position within King James Bible advocacy. The newly released PDF gathers all lesson notes in one place, allowing readers to follow the argument in a unified, sequential form.
What the PDF Contains
The notes address three central questions:
- What is the Pure Cambridge Edition position?
- When and where did it originate?
- What does it actually teach—and what assumptions does it require?
Rather than approaching the PCE position polemically, the study treats it as a historical claim that can be examined using dated evidence, published sources, and internal consistency. Matthew Verschuur’s Guide to the Pure Cambridge Edition (6th draft, 2013) is taken as the flagship articulation of the position, after which the study traces the development of his thought through later major works, including A Century of the Pure Cambridge Edition (2024) and Vintage Bibles (2025). The series concludes by situating those later claims in light of earlier writings from 2006–2009 that laid the groundwork for the PCE narrative.
Designed for Reading and Viewing Together
The PDF is formatted to function alongside the original teaching. Each entry in the Table of Contents includes a direct link to the corresponding YouTube lesson, making it easy for readers to move between the written notes and the recorded class sessions. This allows those who were unable to attend—or who wish to revisit the material—to follow the study in the same order and depth in which it was originally presented.
Why This Matters
Discussions surrounding the King James Bible often generate more heat than light, especially when claims of textual exclusivity are involved. This study seeks to model a different approach—one that begins with faith-based presuppositions, but does not deny the facts of history or break the laws of logic. Whether one ultimately agrees or disagrees with the conclusions reached, the goal is to encourage careful thinking, fair representation of opposing views, and a clear distinction between historical evidence and theological inference.
